Experts' Meeting on Assessment Beyond Testing
Recent Advancements in the Measurement and Prediction of Behavior in the Digital World
On September 5th and 6th, 2024, the Faculty of Psychology at the University of Barcelona hosted an Experts' Meeting, organized by Professor David Gallardo-Pujol, Secretary-General of the EAPA and the lead researcher of the Individual Differences Lab. The event, titled "Assessment Beyond Testing: Recent Advances in the Measurement and Prediction of Behavior in the Digital World" brought together experts from various fields including Psychology, Mathematics, Physics, and Artificial Intelligence.
This interdisciplinary gathering featured contributions from researchers affiliated with renowned institutions such as King's College, Radboud University, Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin, Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität München, University of St. Gallen, Hamburg Universität, and the Centre de Recerca Matemàtica. Attendees hailed from diverse countries including Catalonia, Germany, Switzerland, the Netherlands, and the United Kingdom, creating a truly international collaborative environment.
The main goal of the event was to explore the latest advances in measuring and predicting behavior in digital environments, a rapidly growing area of interest. Sessions focused on innovative methodologies that go beyond traditional testing approaches, with applications in fields such as mental health, education, and human interaction with digital technologies.
David Gallardo-Pujol emphasized the significance of the event:
"The intersection of Psychology and other sciences allows us to better understand how we predict and measure human behavior in an increasingly digitalized world. This meeting offers a unique opportunity to share knowledge and experiences across diverse disciplines."
The meeting provided an exceptional platform for reflecting on the challenges and opportunities that the digital world presents in assessing human behavior, while fostering dialogue among leading researchers in their respective fields. This will eventually lead to a specific publication on this topic.
